Ruins of St. Declans Church, Ardmore
The ruins of St. Declan’s Church in Ardmore, County Waterford. The church was built in the 12th Century. Nearby are a round tower and an oratory of which I also have photos that I will post here soon.
Ring-Tailed Lemur
A Ring-Tailed Lemur looking very relaxed for him or herself. This photo was taken back in June 2008 at Fota Wildlife Park. On the same day the staff there were counting all their Lemurs. A stock take of sorts as they regularly go out over the fence to the shingle beach to root around the shells. I was told by one of the staff counting that they regularly do that but they always come back for their dinner!
Zar IV
The Zar IV along the County Wexford bank of the River Suir. A bit of searching came up with it’s history. It was built in Hamburg, Germany in 1914 as a tug boat. Re-engined in 1957 and it’s currently on sale for €60,000.
Let’s look after our Bass
A sign on the beach in Waterville, Co. Kerry with limits on the numbers of Bass an angler can catch. Waterville is noted not only for its incredible scenery but as a favourite holiday place for Charlie Chaplin and his family. There is a statue of him located in the town. I wonder if he went Bass fishing while he stayed there?
